welcome
Welcome to the Sometimes Draws Art & Golf Club. As the little intro states, this is a place to talk about creativity, logos, branding, products, and general cool ideas in the golf world.
a blog essentially… I’ve just never been a fan of the word blog.
I’ll start with a little bit about why I’m doing this and some backstory on how I got here. As I mentioned in my quick little intro on the homepage, I’m a graphic designer and have been running a freelance design business for 8-or-so years (since I graduated from NC State in 2017 with a Graphic Design degree). And about a year and a half ago from the time of this post I really hit a point where I just wasn’t excited about what I was working on, and felt like I had to figure out how to change that. Design is a super cool career and skill set, and the fact that I wasn’t excited about it anymore didn’t sit well. So I started drawing more just as a hobby—sketching, learning digital illustration, and just having fun with it.
Now, it’s worth mentioning that during this same time, golf had been becoming an increasingly important part of my life. My interest in and excitement about golf started working its way into some of the sketches and artwork I was creating. That’s when Sometimes Draws was born (and not to toot my own horn, but… great name) and I just wanted to create a space where I could share some silly little golf doodles and see where it would take me.
Within a few months of starting the account, nearly 100% of my work was golf-related. It was really cool to see the account grow and reach more people, and in turn become a platform for marketing myself as a designer/artist in the golf space. It really is crazy what can happen when you pursue things you care about.
I’m sure I’ll spill more details along the way as I continue writing and sharing, but here’s the main idea…
There’s a ton of creative stuff happening in the golf world right now—I love being a part of it, and I want to highlight some of those things from my perspective as a designer, artist, and golfer.
Now go play golf, or make cool stuff. Ideally both.
